How to Find Your New Favourite Scent: Fragrance Finder Guide
At Floral Street, we believe fragrance is more than a finishing touch. It’s mood, memory, identity, style and self-care all at once. When our founder Michelle Feeney created Floral Street, she worked with master perfumer Jérôme Epinette using mood boards rather than ingredients alone. That spirit of creativity and self-expression still shapes how we think about scent today.
When it comes to fragrance, we believe that the last ingredient is you. Your unique skin chemistry, mood, and even the way you apply it affects how a fragrance unfolds. That’s the magic of scent: it tells your story.
In this guide, we’ll share our tips for finding the scents to best suit your mood, the fragrance families behind our most-loved fragrances, and how to break out of a ‘signature scent’ rut.

Why we don’t believe in a signature scent
At Floral Street, we don’t believe in sticking to one signature scent. Fragrance is personal, expressive and ever-changing, so, just like your outfits, hair or make-up, the perfumes you reach for should shift with your mood, the season or the moment.
For some, that might mean switching between familiar favourites. For others, it means building a fragrance wardrobe of scents that reflect different sides of their personality.
As our founder Michelle Feeney says, “A fragrance wardrobe allows you to express yourself uniquely through the art of scent.”
Of course, many fragrances sit across more than one scent family. You may discover that your perfect signature perfume is floral and woody, fresh and musky, or creamy with a gourmand edge – and that’s why sampling is so useful! Once you know which fragrance families excite you most, choosing becomes much less overwhelming.
If you’re still exploring your preferences, start by asking yourself what kinds of scents you already enjoy in candles, body products or home fragrance. Those clues can reveal a lot about the fragrance families that are most likely to suit your style. Remember, the last ingredient is you, so the way a fragrance sits on your skin will always shape how it feels to wear.

Discovering new scents with our Fragrance Discovery Wardrobe
Our Fragrance Discovery Wardrobe is the ultimate Floral Street exploration. With 12 mini sizes of our eau de parfums, it lets you discover how each fragrance develops on your skin throughout the day.
Instead of committing to a full-size bottle straight away, you can take your time and see which fragrances you return to. Because the last ingredient is you, testing perfume on your own skin is the best way to understand how it opens, settles and lingers.
It’s also a great way to build your own fragrance wardrobe, with a range of scents to match how you want to feel each day.
8 Tips for testing and wearing your new perfumes
- Only try one new fragrance a day to avoid overwhelming your senses.
- Start on a blotter, then test your favourites on skin to see how they really develop.
- Wear each fragrance for a few hours before making your decision, paying attention to how it smells once it’s dried and lingered on the skin for a while.
- Notice whether the sillage feels right for you.
- Apply perfume to moisturised skin to help improve longevity.
- Focus on your pulse points, such as the wrists, neck and the inside of your elbows.
- Avoid rubbing your wrists together after spraying, as this can affect how the fragrance settles.
- Give yourself time – often the fragrances we love most are the ones we keep coming back to over a few weeks.
